Keep in mind that the city is spread out so meeting people is kinda relegated to the apps if you're not interested in the bar scene, and even then I’d wager it's easier on the apps than in the bars. Of course there are bars and areas I wouldn't go to, but that's more to do with general issues and not specifically homophobia. Safety wise I’d say it's a generally safe community, even outside of the strip. ![]() I know a few years back that San Antonio was found to have a pretty high population of lgbtq parents, so that’s something. ![]() Honestly I’m not sure if there’s any gay sports leagues if you’re into that but for the most part bar hopping was mainly what my friends and I had done. The scene is much more relaxed than Dallas, and the bars reflect that, but I’m sure you can find a gaggle of queens smoking on the back patio of the heat acting uppity. ![]() Haven’t been out in forever (2ish years) but there is a gay strip, so the main 4 bars the heat, sparky’s, Pegasus, and knockout are all on the same road right next to each other.
